Project Life Week 16

Last week I wasn't so good about taking pictures.  I haven't really picked up my big camera in a while (okay once--that pic of Ry)  and only took a couple of iphone pictures so I thought I wouldn't have much to show for the week. However, I discovered it really wasn't a big deal and it worked out just fine...the relaxing part of weekly documentation rather than daily which I have done for three years prior.

With Spring Break behind us, we got back into our routine with the usual surprises thrown in (hello rain day). Scott and I were wrapped up in the all the Boston dealings and I debated whether to include that in our week but decided against giving it any more attention especially since I was able to conceal it all from Makenna (I do wonder how much longer I can shield her from the evil in the world).

So with that, here is a look at last week.

And this little boy just loves spreading the love out to the world...If only I can just bottle his cuteness up on most days, I would be one rich momma. He not only insists on one kiss, but always always two (something I need to document to remember!)   xo
Love always wins.

Project Life Week 14 and 15

I not only love this way of recalling our daily lives, but I am also so grateful at how quickly I can catch up on a couple of weeks of photos and stories.

Week 14 was all about documenting the fascination of playing Doctor/Veternarian in our home and the start of swim lessons for Rylan while week 15 concentrated on Spring Break activities and love.

Happy Hump day.

Last week...

Makenna was on spring break and although Rylan still had school, he only goes to preschool two mornings a week so it led to a lot of special time together.   And it just happened to be a week that Scott was out of town for a straight 8 days for business so it was the three of us.  And Abby. :)

Last Week...

Sneaking in a treat at the local yogurt shop

We spent a lot of time just hanging out together playing, relaxing, making plans as we pleased.

The kids play really, really nice with one another currently.  Yes, they still annoy one another at times and I still hear a lot of intermittent  "Mooooooommmmmmm,  he's not sharing."  or "Mmmmmoooooommm, she's not letting me play with her."  But overall they are really the best of friends with she playing legos and trains with him and he playing dolls and school with her. And of course their clinic is always open with lots of playing doctor to all their patients in between.

Saying that, there was plenty of time I was able to just step back, take a few minutes for myself or do some housework while they happily played together which makes for a very content momma and many great days of balance.

We went to Brookfield Zoo and enjoyed a beautiful sunny warm spring day outside.

We spent many days (3!) at the library with special events.  We dropped off a couple of stuffed animals for a sleepover (the cutest thing!), picked them up the next day and Makenna attended a class on Mo Williams books.

We went swimming.

We played outside a bit, when it wasn't raining.

And we really, really enjoyed being together.  So much so, both Makenna and I were both pretty sad when school started up again on Monday and usually we both are ready for school to resume!

But today, after 18 hours of constant thunderstorms, both kids have a "Rain Day" as the streets are flooded and everything around us is closed.  We'll just call it a bonus spring break day.

I'll be back next week with more photos.

The Dr.'s are in.

Makenna has long been very interested with taking care of animals and people.  Ever since I can remember she has played the role of doctor/veternarian in regularity with seriousness and precision. I don't think there are many six year olds that can tell you a stethoscope is used to listen to your heart and stomach and a sphygmomanometer is used to measure your blood pressure but that's just the beginning of her knowledge.  If her future endeavors include medicine in some fashion, I will be the first to say that I'm not in the least surprised.

And now that concept has been reinforced by their recent favorite television show, Dr. McStuffins,  a Disney Junior program.  The animated show is about a 6 year old little girl who communicates and heals her stuffed animals and toys.  Rylan has eagerly joined the team of medical professionals and boy oh boy are our stuffed animals are filled with complaints and ailments ranging from broken bones to fevers to chicken pox.  With the team to diagnose and treat, the patients are soon on the mend, only to have more animals fall victim.

It is the first thing they play in the morning and the first thing to do after school.  You see, the vet office becomes very backed up during the day.  They take turns documenting and treating, creating a true successful treatment plan.  Little kitty came in the office not feeling well and had a bit of a cold and a fever.

But the staff of two  took care of her and made her feel all better with some medications and lots of TLC.  Life is good.  So very good.

Project Life Week 13

Makenna losing her second front tooth was the big news of last week.  After several days of hanging on by a thread, the tooth came loose during school lunch.   As I picked her up from the car line,  she promptly got in the car declaring her new magnificent smile.  A moment I won't forget for awhile.

Rylan also is starting a few classes, jumping into the big boy world with two feet.  After a trial class a couple of weeks ago, he decided he wanted to give soccer a try and will be attending weekly classes until the summer.  I love that he has the confidence to be part of a new group just as much as I love that he still has one arm stretched out to his momma for extra support.  I know one day all too soon he'll be running on the field without even looking back.

And of course we wrapped up the week with Easter Sunday.  The egg hunt was the favorite of the day, and the continual supply of sugar of course!  Love that I can get all these memories documented so quickly.

The receipt is an idea I got from my favorite online organization board, pinterest.

Have a great week! K
